It’s a common problem. Those short-wave infrared lamps are great for instant heat, but the glare can be brutal. It’s especially tough on kids or babies who can&amp;rsquo;t just look away.&#xA;We decided to fix that.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;Taming the glare&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;The secret is in the glass. We use a special quartz coating that acts like a filter, blocking out those harsh, aggressive wavelengths. By shifting the light away from the blue end of the spectrum, we get a much softer glow.&#xA;It’s not just to make it look pretty. It’s about stopping that retina-straining feeling.&#xA;We also use a parabolic mirror. Instead of letting the light scatter everywhere or create one blinding &amp;ldquo;hot spot&amp;rdquo; that hits you in the eyes if you look up, the mirror pushes the heat straight down where you actually need it.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;Heat vs. Light&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;Now, here&amp;rsquo;s the thing: when you filter out light to protect your eyes, you lose a tiny bit of energy.&#xA;But we’ve got a workaround. We tweaked the filament wattage to make up for that loss. You still get that deep, cozy heat that cuts through a damp room, but you don&amp;rsquo;t get that blinding flash you&amp;rsquo;d find in a cheap halogen bulb.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;Getting it installed right&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;If you&amp;rsquo;re wiring these in, just a heads-up: these tubes get&lt;strong&gt;hot&lt;/strong&gt;. Seriously hot.&#xA;Make sure your housing can handle the temperature. If the reflector is crooked or poorly aligned, you might actually warp the plastic casing of the fixture.&#xA;A few pro tips to keep things from melting:&#xA;Use high-temperature ceramics for the sockets so your wiring doesn&amp;rsquo;t fry over time.&#xA;And for heaven&amp;rsquo;s sake, keep the vents clear. If the heat gets trapped inside the fixture, the lamp is going to burn out way faster than it should.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
