
Getting the Heat Right for Husky HyPET Systems
When you’re running Husky HyPET systems, every single millisecond counts. You’re moving fast. Really fast. And in that window, the biggest headache is getting the heat to actually soak into the core of the PET preform without torching the outside. That’s why we don’t just make “lamps.” We build quartz infrared lamps that shift the light to the specific wavelengths that PET actually likes to soak up. The struggle with “cold cores” Most standard lamps just blast the surface. You end up with a hot exterior and a frozen center. That’s where the trouble starts—you get uneven walls or that annoying pearlescence in the finished bottle. We fix that by using doped quartz and very specific wattage densities. Instead of just heating the skin, the radiation pushes deep into the inner wall. It gets the plastic up to that glass transition temperature way faster. It just works better. The nitty-gritty on the hardware These are designed as simple drop-in replacements for your Husky oven. No fuss. We use high-grade quartz because these things take a beating with constant thermal cycling. We also put a lot of focus on the connectors; they’re built to handle high current loads so you don’t have to worry about them overheating at the contact point. And we’re obsessive about the measurements. If a lamp is off by even a couple of millimeters, it won’t sit right in the rack. That leads to “dead zones” in your heating, and nobody wants to deal with that. One thing to watch out for Here’s the catch: these lamps put out a massive amount of heat density. That puts a lot more pressure on your oven’s ventilation. If your cooling blowers are clogged or just can’t keep up, the ambient temp inside the oven will spike. If that happens, your preforms might start to deform before they even hit the mold. So, do yourself a favor. Double-check that your airflow is dialed in before you swap in these high-output tubes.
